Overview
Synlar is seeking researchers to contribute to a short-term, practice-oriented project examining labour market needs and migrant workers’ green and digital skills. This initiative is part of an international collaboration aimed at strengthening inclusive skill-building and training systems. Research will inform service design and internal learning within public & private organisations — it is not intended for academic publication.
We welcome interest from students (BA/MA), graduates, early-career professionals, or staff affiliated with local universities or community organisations.
Desired Profile
- Background in any relevant field (e.g., social sciences, economics, business, policy, digital/green transitions, education, etc.)
- Comfortable conducting interviews and group discussions
- Fluent in the local language of the country
- Able to report and communicate in English
Responsibilities
Researchers may choose to take on one or both of the following components:
A. Labour Market Analysis
- Desk review of national literature/data
- Interviews with employers and/or employment service professionals
- Short report in English
B. Migrant Worker Consultation
- Desk review of national literature/data
- Interview or survey migrant job-seekers or workers
- Short report in English
Support and Methodology
Researchers will receive:
- Interview and focus group guides
- Consent forms and ethical protocols
- Optional support with recruitment
- Weekly online check-ins with the core team
- Transcription/translation assistance if needed
Researchers are expected to:
- Translate and adapt tools as needed
- Work independently in their country
- Submit complete transcripts and reports
Engagement Terms
- This is a paid opportunity for those who can invoice via their personal freelance status, university or NGO affiliations.
- For students who cannot invoice, we offer a formal volunteering agreement and certification of research experience.
- Researchers may propose partial involvement (e.g., only few interviews or only one component)
- The final scope of work will be agreed based on each candidate's availability and interest
